art’otel London Battersea Power Station receives two stellar accolades at one-year anniversary
The hotel earns AA 5 star status, whilst restaurant JOIA achieves 2 AA Rosettes
art’otel London Battersea Power Station, the hotel that fuses art, design and hospitality, has been awarded 5 star status from the AA Accreditation board, up from its 4 star rating awarded at opening, just one year ago.
Alongside this, the hotel’s destination restaurant JOIA, headed up by 2 Michelin-starred Portuguese chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, has been awarded a coveted 2 Rosette status. The AA Rosette ranking was the first national scheme for assessing the quality of food and service, and the award symbolises the high level of service, technical skill and consistency from the kitchen team.
Both awards come just one year after the hotel opened its doors. The space is famed for its fusion of art and design, masterminded by the hotel’s interior designer and Signature Artist, the acclaimed Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon.
JOIA can be found on the 14th floor of the hotel, offering sweeping views of the Power Station, Battersea Park and London’s skyline. The menu showcases Henrique Sá Pessoa’s vibrant, unique, and fresh take on traditional plates using the best of British and Iberian produce.
The AA Accreditation board marks a hotel’s star level based on a number of different criteria, including overall quality, cleanliness, hospitality, service, bedrooms, bathrooms and food. The board recognises around 4,000 hotels across Britain and Ireland and the AA Merit Score provides consumers with a means of comparing hotels within the same star rating.
Jennifer McCabe, General Manager at art’otel London Battersea Power Station, comments: “To win such a coveted level of accreditation just one year into trading is a huge achievement and a real testament to the quality and calibre of our team. Everything we do here at art’otel is with guest experience front of mind, and we’re thrilled to have this recognised on a national level.”
The anonymous AA Inspector relayed: “There is a huge amount to commend at this relatively new property, which shows modernity in everything it does, but also retains a good sense of the important aspects of traditional hotelkeeping. Location plays a part here, but the hotel makes an immediate impact on arrival with bold design and art installations – all of which is continued to bedrooms, restaurants and other public spaces, creating a memorable experience as a guest.”
The recognition comes at a prime time for the art’otel brand, which is owned by PPHE Hotel Group, as it prepares to open a second London property, art’otel London Hoxton, in April 2024.
